One day tour of Mombasa City /Haller Park
Pick time 8.30 am form north coast hotel. Drive straight to Akamba wood curving factory where there are about two thousand wood carvers. Here, filming/photographing is allowed. Later visit the biggest wood curving show room, where you have hassle free Shopping. From Akamba drive to the biggest Indian Temple, elephant tasks a gate way to a new harbor.
Visit Likoni ferry, Mama Ngina Drive, golf course, presidential palace up to Fort Jesus built by the Portuguese. Visit the old town, old port and spice market drive back to hotel 01.30 p.m.
After lunch drive to the famous Haller Park in time for feeding of giraffes, crocodiles and hippos. There are many types of birds, monkeys; snakes, fish aquarium and the biggest tortoise form the sea shell. The cooling systems by the casurina trees planted to reclaim this land, makes want to stay longer. Later return to the hotel at around 10.30 pm.
Mombasa City Tour – Half day
You will be picked up in the morning or afternoon from your hotel. The tour picks out some of the highlights of this colourful city including the bustling fruit and vegetable market. The Old Town and Port, Fort Jesus , the famous Elephant Tusks in Moi Avenue and Akamba Wood Carvers Centre. Later on you will be dropped back to your hotel arriving in time for lunch.
Haller Park Tour – half day
Depart after lunch for Bamburi Quarry Nature Trail. The wasteland of the stone quarry has been reclaimed and amongst casaurina trees and other tropical floral reside a variety of wildlife like Buffalo, the unique lovers? Hippo and Mzee tortoise, Crocodiles and other Reptiles can be seen wondering with crowned cranes.
Evening Tamarind Dhow Dinner Cruise
You will be picked up from your hotel in the late afternoon and driven to Tamarind restaurant whereby you will take an evening cruise aboard a traditional dhow and enjoy the perfect combination of good food, romantic atmosphere on this leisurely cruise in Mombasa Old Harbour. Highlights includes a sumptuous seafood meal, dancing under the stars and a gentle cruise through the peaceful creeks of Mombasa .
Full Day Wasini Island Dhow Trip
you will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning. Drive further south to Wasini Island. Board a traditional sailing dhow visiting the spectacular Marine Park of Kisite, home to a myarid of tropical fish and lovely coral formations. During the morning there will be opportunities for snorkeling on the shallow reef, dolphins might be seen, followed by a fresh seafood lunch on Wasini Island . In the afternoon we visit a Swahili village before returning to the mainland and back to the hotel.
Kaya Kinondo Tour
Leave your hotel in the morning and drive to the Kaya Kinondo Sacred Forest, your guide will point out the flora and fauna/biodiversity of this mystic forest. You will visit the Digo people’s (indigenous Kenya Coast tribesmen) shrines where you will be introduced to their spiritual ritual and worship. Later you will visit a Digo Village in the countryside to interact with them in their daily lives. The village tour includes a visit to a traditional healer’s house to see how they go about healing the sick and exorcising evil spirit. To finish your tour you will visit to a local Primary School, you will enter the classrooms and have the opportunity to get a presentation with the school head teacher before returning to the hotel for lunch.
Mombasa by Night
Start 5.35 pm. Our exciting itinerary begins with an atmospheric Dhow Sundowner Cruise which offers an outstanding view of the Old port from the water. After docking, our guide will lead you through the historic Old Town to the 400 year old fortress of Fort Jesus.
Build by the Portuguese as a stronghold at the entrance to the harbor, the ancient Fort Jesus is a stunning example of the 16th century military architecture that has survived centuries of attack and conquest.
Here you will be welcomed by the Portuguese and Arab fire-bearers before witnessing a dazzling sound and light show that is followed by a sumptuous dinner served alfresco within the ramparts of the Fort for a truly unforgettable dining experience.
11.30 pm back to hotel.
One day Bush Tour/Land and the People/Optional African Traditional Lunch
This is the land and the people of the coastal strip of Kenya. The starting of this tour is 8.30am. Drive to view the Mombasa old town, Fort Jesus from the other side across the sea at Mkomani area.
Later drive through Mombasa Nairobi highway to Mariakani small town. Mariakani is the last small town to enter Mombasa. You will then proceed on to the first Apostles Church built in 1887.
There you will be able to see the Museum and the school. Later you will drive to the typical mijikenda village and be able to see their culture. Later drive through the beautiful coconut palms and the famous standing rocks of mijikenda believes for gods. From there you will visit the sisal plantation which occupies 40sq kilo meters of land at vidingo.
You have Kenyan style prepared lunch at the Porini villange. After Porini go to the Giriama dance and the intermingle with the people there. Later come back to the hotel at around 5.30hrs.
