At a height of 1,754 meters above sea level, Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley’s lakes. It is protected by Lake Nakuru National Park and is located south of Nakuru in Kenya’s rift valley. The number of algae in the lake used to attract a large number of flamingos, who famously lined the beach.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Tree Lodge (Mount Kenya)

Depart by road early in the morning to the famous Tree Lodge situated at the foot of Mt. Kenya which borders the Mt. Kenya National Park. The trip takes approximately 3½ hours till you reach the Tree Lodge in time for lunch, then you will have a delightful day with a beautiful view of Mount Kenya, you will enjoy looking at the animals in your comfort down through the balcony, isn’t that cool!

Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast depart to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lunch will be served at the Thompson Fall’s Lodge. Continue to National Nakuru National Park arriving in good time for late afternoon game drive, enjoy game drive looking for animals. Lake Nakuru has been a bird watcher’s paradise and is known as the world-famous bird spectacle on earth – myriads of pink flamingos whose numbers are legion, often more than a million maybe two. They feed on the abundant algae, which thrive in the warm waters. (But in the recent years, the flamingos have reduced)

Day 3: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Enjoy early morning breakfast at your lodge then depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve arriving in the afternoon at the lodge/camp. Check-in and enjoy lunch. Step into your safari vehicle for an afternoon game drive in this famous reserve and begin the search for animals: lion, cheetah, hyena, leopard, giraffe, elephant, zebra, buffalo, rhino, etc.

Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve

‘Leo ni leo’ Swahili meaning ‘this is the day’ On this day we enjoy breakfast and leave for a full day game drive, we won’t come back for lunch instead we will carry our picnic boxes. We will try and discover deep into the Masai Mara to the river and the border with Tanzania in search of predators and their prey like the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, gazelle, hippo, etc. We have lunch at a picnic area in the open Savannah.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Drive to Nairobi

Early breakfast at the lodge/camp, check out of the lodge and park, and start driving back to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch. Alternatively, you may enjoy lunch at a stop-over restaurant, drop it off at your respective hotel/airport in Nairobi.
