Mt. Kenya National Park is located on the Great Rift Valley’s eastern side, roughly 175 kilometers northeast of Nairobi. The environment may be found in the country’s Central and Eastern provinces. Mount Kenya, at 5,199 meters, is Africa’s second-highest peak. UNESCO has designated Mount Kenya as a World Heritage Site. With its craggy glacier-clad peaks, Afro-alpine moorlands, and diversity of woods that illustrate its remarkable biological processes, it is considered one of Eastern Africa’s most intriguing landscapes.
Pristine wilderness, stunning glacier peaks, lakes, forests, tarns, mineral springs, geological diversity, endangered animal species, outstanding montane and alpine vegetation, high-altitude wildlife, and unique plant species.

Elephants, Elands, tree hyrax, bushbucks, white-tailed mongoose, waterbuck, suni, mole rat, and the black-faced duiker may all be found in the park. Rhinos, leopards, huge forest pigs, and bongo are among the rare creatures found here.

In addition, there are more than 130 bird species recorded in this national park.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi — Aberdare (Mt. Kenya National Park)

You will be pick up from your hotel/Airport and drive North to Aberdare National Park or Mt. Kenya National Park. You will arrive at The Aberdare Country Club/Outspan/Mountain Lodge, located at the foot of Mt. Kenya. After lunch and high tea, set off for the Ark tree lodge, located in the forest on mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet. The tree hotel offers high-altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere: giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo.
Wildlife can be observed from the balcony or inside your rooms where you can see, hear and smell nature at its best. You can put in a request to be awakened during the night if your favorite animals show up. A herd of Elephants might be just feet away and if you are lucky, a Leopard or Lion might put in an appearance.

Day 2: Mt. Kenya-Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, you will drive southwest to Lake Naivasha with a stop at the impressive Nyahururu Falls, formerly Thompson’s Fall, and then drivel along the magnificent Rift Valley towards Lake Naivasha arriving in the afternoon. Afternoon boat ride at Lake Naivasha that takes you to Crescent Island for a walking safari. This is one of the few places in the world where one can wander on foot amidst wild animals’ there are no predators.

Day 3: Lake Naivasha-Maasai Mara
Depart Naivasha after breakfast and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, arriving at the lodge/ camp in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive as you get a feel of this vast game-filled reserve.

Day 4: Maasai Mara
Spend the day in Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most popular game sanctuary where you will high chance of spotting the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant. Game drives are flexible, with the option of going out with picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire day in the park, or you can choose to have early morning and late afternoon game drives. At extra cost you may visit a local Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle; the Masai are famous for their bravery, as they have co-existed with the animals over the years.

Day 5: Back to Nairobi
Morning game drive in Mara after breakfast, then drive back to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport for your onward flight.
